A New York man was sentenced to one year in jail on Wednesday for last year’s hit-and-run that killed Nicki Minaj’s father.
According to TMZ, Charles Polevich, 70, pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an incident without reporting and tampering with physical evidence. Polevich fatally struck Robert Maraj, 64, in February 2021 as he walked in a roadway near his Long Island home.
After fleeing the scene, Polevich tried to hide his car in a detached garage at his home. However, surveillance footage linked him to the crime. Reports indicated that Polevich eventually turned himself in.
In addition to the 1-year jail sentence, Polevich’s driver’s license is suspended for six years and he is ordered to pay a $5,000 fine.
