A 5-year-old boy shot himself in the face Monday night while playing with a loaded gun he found in the bedroom of a Detroit home.

Detroit police say someone in the home took the boy to the hospital. He was transferred to a children’s hospital, where he died from his injuries, WDIV reports.

Investigators were still looking for the gun used in the incident late Monday night; it’s unclear if it had been found by Tuesday morning.

A 6-year-old girl was removed from the home, police said. Detectives believe the girl may have been in the room at the time of the shooting but not involved in it. She was not injured.
