A St. Louis toddler has passed away after shooting himself in the head with a gun at his family’s home.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the incident happened on Wednesday at a residence in St. Louis City. Police say the boy was found inside the home, barely breathing, NBC 5 reports.
“We’re not really sure what happened or how the child accessed the gun. This is a terrible tragedy that this family is going to be going through for quite some time,” Lt. Col. Michael Sack said.
The child abuse unit and crisis response teams arrived at the scene on Wednesday. The child’s identity hasn’t yet been released.
