A 31-year-old Georgia man has been arrested after he allegedly walked into a Marietta gym shower and assaulted a woman.
Warrants for Matthew Carlisle’s arrest say he went into an LA Fitness location just before closing time on August 25, according to WAGA.
He walked into the women’s locker room, the warrants say, saw a woman in a shower there, then stepped into the shower and “grabbed her breast while pushing her into the wall.”
Cobb County Police said the woman pushed Carlisle off and ran for help, Fox News reported.
Carlisle, who got into the gym on a guest pass, was arrested later that day and charged with peeping tom, disorderly conduct, and sexual battery.
News of the attack shook members of the gym. Rachel Riggins said she’d now be on alert every time she comes to the facility.
“Not just looking out for myself but for others are around me,” said Riggins.
Another member said if that had happened to her, she wouldn’t want to come to the gym anymore.
“It makes women feel very unsafe, that’s not okay,” said Emely Luna, who still works out at the LA Fitness.
According to jail records, Carlisle remains behind bars on a $5,000 bond.
