A 4-year-old child fell to their death early Saturday from a third-floor balcony at a Panama City Beach lakeside resort.

The Panama City Beach Police Department said the child was found by another Laketown Wharf guest heading to the gym at about 6:30 a.m., local media reported.

Investigators believe the child fell from the balcony at about 4:30 a.m, according to WJHG.

WMBB reported that the family was visiting the panhandle from Warner Robins, Georgia.

“This is a terrible tragedy and our thoughts and prayers are with this family,” police said.
