Police conducting a wellness check at a Brooklyn apartment Wednesday afternoon found a dismembered body stuffed into two suitcases.

Investigators believe the body belongs to the 22-year-old woman who lived at the apartment but are awaiting the medical examiner’s confirmation of identity and cause of death, WABC reported.

Other residents of the apartment building told police the woman lived there with a man and that the two fought in the past. Police are looking for him for questioning.

Detectives said the woman hadn’t been seen for several days, and neighbors requested a wellness check when they detected a foul smell.

Neighbors were dismayed over the discovery.”This neighborhood is not the best neighborhood to be honest with you, but this is outrageous. Absolutely outrageous,” neighbor Lindsey Vena said. “It makes me scared to even be around here. I’m just sick.”

Another neighbor said it was “scary.”
