A 21-year-old Florida sheriff’s deputy was shot and killed early Tuesday mornin while serving a warrant.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said four deputies had gone to serve the suspect with a failure to appear warrant. The deputies entered the mobile home, he said, and shots were fired, striking one of the deputies.
The deputy was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center, where he died.
Judd didn’t say what precipitated the gunshots or if the suspect was shot or in custody, but he did say that further information would be released later in the day, after immediate family members and colleagues of the slain deputy had been notified.
