A 1-year-old baby girl is fighting for her life in south Alabama after her father allegedly poured boiling water down her throat.
Niktoria Lett told WALA that her daughter Royalty is at USA Health’s Children’s and Women’s Hospital with severe burns.
The toddler suffered burns to much of her face and internal injuries to her lungs and throat, according to WKRG.
Eugene Sneed, the girl’s father, has been charged with aggravated child abuse and domestic violence. He was out on parole and expected to go to trial later this month for allegedly shooting at an ex-girlfriend and a child he had with her.
On Thursday, a judge in Mobile County revoked his bond in that case. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he turned himself in to police at Mobile Metro Jail. On Friday, he was denied bond in the abuse case and is expected to be arraigned on October 17.
Niktoria Lett told WALA that she’d gone out to an event on Sunday, leaving Royalty with Sneed. When she came home, she said, she “couldn’t even keep calm.”
“So we rushed her to the hospital and from there, her injuries just started worsening,” she said.
“Her lungs critical, everything critical. That’s how they know it was done purposely,” Lett said. “They said it was an intentional thing that he did.”
“Who would do something like this to an innocent baby? It’s not right,” Royalty’s aunt, Kiara Lett said. “That baby was there, she thought she was in a safe home with her father. It wasn’t right what he did to our baby. He messed up our life with this. She was just an innocent child.”
