A Florida man who was fatally stabbed by his girlfriend in April reportedly recorded her verbally abusing him months before his slaying, according to reports.
The recordings obtained by the Miami Herald appear to capture OnlyFans model Courtney Clenney, 26, calling Christian Obumseli, 27, a racial slur and ordering him to let her slap him. Clenney, who is charged with second-degree murder, is accused of fatally stabbing Obumseli with a kitchen knife at their Miami apartment.
In the recordings, which Obumseli recorded on his iPhone, Clenney is allegedly also heard telling her boyfriend to “man up,” find her cell phone, and charge it.
In another recording, Obumseli is reportedly heard saying, “Courtney, that’s a f**kng threat. I asked you something … and I apologized but you hit me.”
Clenney was arrested in Hawaii in August, months after Obumseli’s stabbing death. Her attorneys have claimed that the boyfriend was the aggressor and she acted in self-defense. Her attorneys also said that Clenney often protected her boyfriend who, “as a Black man, could be hurt or harmed if he was ever arrested by the police,” according to the Miami Herald.
In addition to the audio recordings, surveillance footage apparently also showed Clenney physically assaulting Obumseli in their apartment elevator months before the deadly incident.
The defense has claimed the footage lacks context as Clenney was trying to flee from her boyfriend.
Clenney remains jailed.
