An ATV found in Jefferson County, Arkansas, belongs to a Pine Bluff woman who has been missing since May, police say.
According to CBS 11, 38-year-old Maranda Merrell was last seen on May 22 after family members said she took an ATV down the road from her Pine Bluff home to visit her mother’s grave at a nearby cemetery, close to Dyson Road and President Circle.
Police searched the area but didn’t find any evidence, but a hunter reported finding an ATV that police have confirmed belongs to Maranda. Since then, law enforcement has expanded the search areas in hopes of locating her.
“That gives us some measure of hope that we can provide some positive outcome for the family in terms of some recovery,” Jefferson County Sheriff, Lafayette Woods, told the outlet.
The search resumed this morning to include the expanded areas. Woods added that no search volunteers are needed at this time.
Friends and family members previously said Maranda is the mother of two children and would have never been gone this long without checking in, Fox 16 reports.
Anyone with any information on Maranda is asked to contact Investigator T. Wingard at (870) 510-0395, or the JCSO Criminal Investigation Division at (870) 541-5300.
