Georgia murder suspect Leilani Simon made her first court appearance Wednesday, two days after police arrested her in connection with the death of her 1-year-old son, Quinton Simon.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, investigators found Quinton’s possible remains at a local landfill where he is believed to have been taken to after his body was discarded in a dumpster. Quinton was last seen at his Savannah home in October.
Simon, 22, was arrested for his presumed murder on Monday. In court Wednesday, she waived her right to appear and a Chatham County judge denied her bond, WTOC 11 reports.
Simon reported her son missing shortly after 9:30 a.m. on October 5, telling police that her boyfriend, Daniel Youngkin, saw him around 6 a.m. in a playpen. She also reportedly told investigators she believed the boy’s biological father took him, but police say the father’s alibi checks out.
For weeks, investigators scoured through a Georgia landfill, in hopes of finding Quinton, after determining Simon allegedly put his body into a nearby dumpster.
Investigators say the child’s body has been sent to a local lab for positive identification.
