A 5-year-old girl is missing after South Carolina deputies conducting a welfare check on Thursday found the girl’s mother dead.
Orangeburg County deputies said the woman, who has not been named, hadn’t been heard from since November 1, WCSC reported.
They later learned that the woman had a daughter, Aspen Jeter, who was not found at the home.
“If you have any information on the whereabouts of this child, please let us know,” Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said in a statement. “You don’t have to give your name, but just give us what you know.”
The sheriff’s office has not said what caused the woman’s death.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office at 803-534-3550 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIMESC.
