An investigation is underway after a Texas man reportedly opened fire on his ex-wife and a teen boy on Thanksgiving, killing them before turning the gun on himself.
According to Click2Houston, the incident happened at a residence in Spring Branch at around 9:17 p.m., off Baggett Lane. Houston police said they found a man and woman dead inside the two-story home and another man and a 15-year-old in critical condition.
Investigators believe the deceased woman’s former husband forced his way into the home from a back door and attacked the victims, who were having Thanksgiving dinner with several others. The suspect was identified as the deceased male inside the home.
“The families were celebrating, they just finished eating. The suspect, who is known to be the ex-husband of the deceased female, came into the back door and just started firing at the people inside the house,” Houston Police Department Assistant Chief Patricia Cantu said.
Four other people in the home fled when they heard gunshots, Cantu said. They were not harmed.
“There were four other people inside the house. As soon as they heard the shooting, they ran to the rooms for safety,” Cantu said. “The suspect discharged multiple rounds and even reloaded his weapon at the scene.”
The names of the suspect and victims have not been released, and the relationship between the suspect and the teen victim is unclear at this time.
