A Florida police officer was reportedly shot in the face on Monday while investigating an apparent stolen vehicle.
WSVN reported that the unnamed Miami-Dade Police officer was airlifted to the hospital following the shooting, which resulted in American Senior High School being placed on lockdown. A search for the suspect is ongoing.
Police Director Freddy Ramirez said officers were surveilling a car that was the subject of a carjacking when someone started firing from inside. Ramirez said a 34-year-old officer was in his vehicle when he was shot, according to WSVN.
Ramirez said the officer was grazed in the face but is expected to recover.
