Miami Beach police are investigating the murder of a woman found dead Tuesday at an exclusive hotel that caters to flight attendants and pilots.
The woman’s body was found in the Sherry Frontenac Hotel on Tuesday after another woman requested a welfare check for her coworker, police said.
MBPD Officer Ernesto Rodriguez told WPLG that the woman said her coworker hadn’t been seen since Saturday.
Investigators have released no details of the murder, including the victim’s name. It’s not known if she worked for an airline.
Theresa Kuenzler, a flight attendant who has been staying at the hotel for the past 24 years, told WFOR she was “shocked.”
“It could have been someone else who is on a flight crew,” she said. “I hope it is not one of our crew.
“I want to know how this could happen here, a homicide,” she added.
Juan Padin, who works across the street, said he was surprised by all the law enforcement activity when he arrived for work Tuesday night.
“I came to work at 10 o’clock and the whole street was full of police officers, their vehicles, rescue trucks, and CSI vans. I’m shocked because it doesn’t happen around here, we don’t see that type of stuff around here, especially from that hotel. That hotel is pilots and stewardesses,” he said.
WSVN said police were on the scene for 12 hours.
A Sherry Frontenac hotel manager would not comment on the case to WFOR, but a desk clerk told WPLG that the hotel exclusively caters to airline flight crews.
