Dad of Missing 5-Month-Old Twin Speaks Out: ‘There’s No Words for This’

A 5-month-old Ohio boy remains missing days after he and his twin brother were in their mother’s car when it was stolen on Monday.

Kason Thomas’ father, Lachez Thomas, 23, told The Columbus Dispatch that the family is continuing to look for Kason. Kason and his twin brother Kyair were taken when their mother’s car was stolen from a pizza restaurant in Columbus. Kyair was found on Tuesday in a car seat at a Dayton International Airport parking lot, but Kason remains unaccounted for.

“It’s indescribable — there’s no words for this,” the missing infant’s father said.

Reports indicated that the twins’ mother had left the car running while she picked up a delivery order when it was stolen with the two boys inside. A homeless woman, identified as Nalah Jackson, 24, was allegedly inside the pizza restaurant but left after the twins’ mother came in.

Jackson also is unaccounted for and police have deemed her a person of interest in this case.

“She should just drop my child off at a fire station, police station, some safe hospital — somewhere safe,” the father told The Columbus Dispatch.

According to the news outlet, police canvassed the area where Kason was found safe on Tuesday. The airport parking lot he was located at is about an hour from where the abduction occurred, according to KTVI.

An AMBER Alert was not issued for Kason until 1:37 a.m. on Tuesday — a delay Columbus Division of Police Chief Elaine Bryant attributed to the fact that the stolen vehicle was recently purchased, thus not having a license plate.

Columbus police Deputy Chief Smith Weir said they are reviewing footage of Jackson asking for money at a gas station in Huber Heights. The ordeal is believed to have occurred after Tuesday’s abduction, as the stolen vehicle was apparently filmed in the vicinity.

The stolen vehicle was described as a black 2010 Honda Accord with a missing front bumper, torn temporary Ohio registration tag, and a white bumper sticker in the rear that reads, “Westside City Toys. The vehicle identification number is 1HGCP2F30AA031252.

Anyone with information regarding Kason’s whereabouts is asked to call Columbus police’s Special Victims Bureau tip line at 614-645-4266 or 911.
