North Miami Beach police in Florida released the 911 call Wednesday made by a woman who calmly claimed she killed her daughter.
“I just killed my daughter,” Jellisa Amoya Baxter, 24, said during the call, according to South Florida’s NBC 6.
“I tried strangling her. That didn’t work, so I stabbed her with a knife.”
As CrimeOnline previously reported, the incident happened at an apartment building at 1051 NE 163rd Street in North Miami Beach. Police arrived at the apartment on December 27 during the early morning hours after the 911 call and discovered a 3-year-old girl who had been stabbed to death.

“NMBPD officers also observed the body of a small Black female laying on the ground with severe deep stab wounds to her chest, neck, and face,” the arrest warrant states. “The child was deceased upon arrival.”
Public court records indicate that Baxter had received an eviction notice a few days before the stabbing. She’s currently unemployed.
“She’s sick,” Baxter’s stepfather Harold Hemmings told NBC 6. “That’s all I can say, she’s sick.”
Hemmings said he met the suspect last year in September but didn’t know why she would have killed her child since she appeared to be a good parent.
“She didn’t seem like a bad momma to me. You know, she seemed like she was a good mother.”
As of Thursday, Baxter remains behind bars.
