Florida Business Co-Owners Fatally Shoot Each Other in ‘Ongoing Dispute’

Two Florida man are dead after they shot each other in an ongoing dispute at the business they both own on Thursday afternoon.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said that Akeido Bennett, 31, and Xavier Figueroa, shot each other at the business at 3135 US 92 East in Lakeland, WOFL reported.

The sheriff’s office did not name the business, but online reports say a truck repair company called Service On Site of Central Florida is located at that address; however, state records have a company by that name registered in Winter Haven, Florida, and neither Bennett nor Figueroa’s names are attached to it.

Regardless of the name of the business, Bennett was pronounced dead at the scene, and Figueroa initially drove away in his truck but later died from a gunshot wound.

“This was an avoidable tragedy stemming from a disagreement between business partners,” said Sheriff Grady Judd. “We all have an obligation to our friends, our families, and society at large to talk things out instead of turning to violence. These men would still be alive today, and their families would not be grieving, had they been able to work out their differences civilly.”
