A 12-year-old Oklahoma girl is behind bars after police say she stabbed her 9-year-old brother to death inside their Tulsa apartment.
According to Tulsa police, the incident happened shortly before midnight Thursday at the River Bank Plaza Apartments complex. The suspect allegedly stabbed her younger brother, then woke her parents, who were sleeping in their room, and told them what she did.
First responders rushed the victim to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead at around 2:30 a.m.
The Tulsa Police Child Crisis Unit arrested the defendant and transported her to the Family Center for Juvenile Justice. So far, however, few details have been released.
“Obviously, we did some interviews, but interviews with a 12-year-old are very preliminary,” Captain Meulenberg told Fox 23. “This, unfortunately, has no easy end or easy path; this is going to be a long, convoluted process that’s going to be extremely taxing on everyone involved in this.”
