Oklahoma authorities are searching for a 3-year-old girl reported missing Tuesday afternoon after her older sister was spotted without adult supervision.
According to Fox 23, 3-year-old Athena Brownfield was reported missing at around 2 p.m. from the 200 block of West Nebraska in Cyril after a mail carrier reported seeing her 5-year-old sibling unattended.
Police set up a command post at the nearby Family Life Church, and at around 9 p.m. Tuesday, police cordoned off the residence with crime tape.
The Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) announced Wednesday that they’re now assisting the Cyril Police Department with the search. The FBI, Caddo County Sheriff’s Office, and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol are also assisting in the search.
“The whole town has been out. We’ve also used dog teams and infrared,” OSBI spokesperson Lt. Michael Francis said. “We’re asking the community that if they want to come help to come to the Faith Church here in Cyril. That’s where we’re coordinating search efforts.”
Police reportedly said they’ve been in contact with the child’s parents, but no other details about the family are available at this time. Anyone with information concerning the case should contact the OSBI tipline at 800-522-8017 or email tips@osbi.ok.gov.
