A Missouri girl courageously escaped an attempted abduction from her own backyard, prompting a manhunt for the accused kidnapper and two others involved, KOLR-TV reports.
Around 7:15 p.m. Friday, police in Ash Grove, Missouri, notified the Greene County Sheriff’s Office about an attempted abduction of an 11-year-old girl.
The child told police that she had been playing in her backyard when a white male “grabbed her and began taking her to a nearby truck,” according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. However, the girl was able to escape the male’s grasp and fled.
“The 11-year-old stated she was able to get free from the suspect and get away,” the news release states.
The victim described the male as about 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds wearing black clothes and black and white shoes. According to Fox News, he reportedly was seen in a “newer” black truck.
Two other people were inside the truck: a second male and a female. The second male was described as having no facial hair and reportedly wearing a black coat. The female was sitting in the back seat with hair extending past her shoulders.
Sheriff’s deputies and Ash Grove Police Department officers responded to investigate. They deployed a K-9 unit and also checked for other sightings of the suspects or truck from witnesses and security cameras. Police said there was “no additional information or sightings of the vehicle or suspects.”
To report information about the case, call the Greene County Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip Hotline at 417-829-6230.
