Two people in Georgia face multiple charges relating to the shooting of a toddler at Douglasville hotel on Saturday.
Jermecia Martin, 29, and Devante Porter, 23, have each been charged with single counts of aggravated assault, cruelty to children, reckless conduct, making false statements, and tampering with evidence, WAGA reports.
Investigators said emergency medical personnel were dispatched to an extended stay hotel at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning after a 911 call indicated a 3-year-old boy had hit his head on a refrigerator.
But paramedics called in police, telling them the story didn’t comport with the child’s injuries, Douglasville Police Chief Gary Sparks told WSB.
Details on the shooting have not been released, including the toddler’s condition. The relationship among the boy and the two adults is also unclear.
Jail records indicate Porter and Martin are being held without bond.
