Two travelers with Belgian passports were detained at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport after they abandoned a baby in a carrier at the airport check-in and raced to make their flight on time.
According to Fox News, the couple arrived at the Ryanair check-in desk late and it was already closed. They were traveling to Brussels, but apparently had not bought a ticket for the baby.
Airport staff tried unsuccessfully to get the couple to return and eventually abandoned the effort and called airport police, who tracked down the two adults and took them into custody.
They retrieved the abandoned child before going with police for questioning and missed their flight. By the time Israeli police arrived on the scene, they said the situation was resolved, Global News reported.
“The baby was with the parents and there’s no further investigation,” police said.
The incident happened on Tuesday.
