A North Carolina mother has been charged with concealing the death of her 3-month old baby, who was found dead in a suitcase in her home.

Roanoke Rapids police found the baby, wrapped in a blanket inside the suitcase, when they conducted a well-being check on the child Wednesday morning.

The suitcase was tucked into a closet, according to WITN.

Synkel Davis, 34, was jailed on a $15,000 bond and has a first appearance in court on Friday.

The medical examiner is conducting an autopsy to determine cause of death, and police said Davis’s charges could change depending on those results.
