A 50-year-old Colorado woman was reportedly stopped from kidnapping a young child by citizens who saw her grab the child from a Walmart shopping cart and stopped her.
The Alamosa Police Depart,ent said it had charged Kimberli Jones with kidnapping, felony, menacing, child abuse, and disorderly conduct, according to KKTV.
Investigators said the incident took place just before 1 p.m. on Thursday.
>“Upon officers’ arrival, it was discovered that a female party grabbed a young child from a shopping cart and attempted to kidnap the child,” investigators said in a statement. “Due to the quick actions of citizens within the store at the time of the incident, they were able to restrain the suspect until law enforcement arrived and reunited the young child back safely to parents.”
Police said it wasn’t clear Jones knew the child.
