A Florida sex offender was arrested this week after he allegedly stole an ambulance and then tried to flee police.
Bradley Jermaine Baker, 48, was completely naked when he got out of the private ambulance in the parking lot of the Regency Inn & Suits in Macon, the Macon Telegraph reported.
Baker, “while completely nude and in full view of the public in the parking lot,” tried to run away, according to his arrest warrant, which also said that he appeared to be under the influence of cocaine or spice.
Police were first alerted to the situation in reports of an ambulance “doing burnouts” in a parking lot, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies spotted the ambulance — owned by a local man — as it was driven “aggressively” with its headlights off.
BAker was charged with DUI, public indecency, and other crimes. Officials said he’d also failed to register his Macon address with officials in Florida, where he also failed to register as a sex offender following his conviction on lewd assault and sexually battery on a child charges in 1997.
The Telegraph said that the arrest affidavit didn’t say how Baker came into possession of the ambulance, but an incident report said he lived at the same address as the ambulance owner, who employed him as a painter.
