A 14-year-old South Carolina boy is dead after a fight at a Sumter McDonald’s Sunday afternoon turned to gun violence.
The Sumter Police Department said that Marques Charles Wright Jr, 25, has been charged with murder in the death of Jacob Russ, according to The State newspaper.
Investigators said that Wright was involved in a fight with two employees at the fast food restaurant and that he pulled a gun and began firing before fleeing. Russ was hit and pronounced dead at the the scene.
It’s not clear if the teen was involved in the fight, The State said.
Police tracked down Wright and arrested him without incident; he faces attempted murder charges as well as the murder charge.
Investigators have not said if anyone else will face charges in the incident, which is still under investigation.
