A Louisiana mother of three has not been seen for more than a year after she went out with her former boyfriend who has a history of domestic violence against her, WDSU-TV reports.
On December 22, 2021, 40-year-old Krystle Journee got into a black Toyota Avalon intending to go to a concert featuring rapper Fredo Bang in New Orleans.
Christmas Day came around and Journee had not returned. Although it was not unusual for her to be gone for several days, it was out of character for her not to respond to calls and text messages.
Family members reported Journee missing on December 26, 2021.
The former boyfriend, Roosevelt Marshall, is believed to be the last person to see Journee alive, although he is not presently accused of any crimes related to the woman’s disappearance.
But at least two cases of Marshall abusing Journee are documented in police records, according to WWL-TV. In August 2020, Marshall allegedly believed that Journee was breaking up with him, so he took her keys and drove away with her vehicle.
Journee tried to grab the steering wheel and Marshall accelerated and dragged her until she let go, according to a police report obtained by NBC News.
In a second incident months later, Journee alleged that she had tried to escape Marshall’s vehicle but he “grabbed the scarf that she was wearing and held onto it while striking her in the face with a closed fist,” NBC News reports, quoting police records.
The woman’s right eye was severely bruised and she also had blood on her face and ear where Marshall allegedly ripped out an earring.
At the time of the second incident, Journee told police that she and Marshall had been dating on and off for nearly a decade. Family members said they did not believe the two were officially dating again when Journee went missing.
Journee’s daughter, Dominiece Honore, said she met Marshall when she was a teenager. At first he seemed “like a good guy . . . sweet, caring,” but Honore then “started to realize that’s not exactly who he was,” she told NBC News.
As of May 2022, Marshall was in jail in Jefferson Parish on domestic abuse charges, according to WWL-TV.
Honore said her mother is her best friend, describing her as “very goofy, loving, caring,” according to NBC News. “She loves to have fun,” Honore added.

The concerned daughter just wants to know what happened to her mom and is pleading for anyone with information to come forward.
“We do not know whether she is alive or dead, if she is trapped. We do not know nothing. I would be more at peace to know what happened and where she is, than to not know anything at all,” Honore told WDSU-TV.
“As long as I am alive, I am going to keep fighting. Us as a family will keep fighting to bring her home, find closure and justice.”
Journee was last seen wearing a cream-colored dress, black boots and a hat. She is approximately 5-foot-5 and 190 pounds with freckles and a caramel complexion. Journee has multiple tattoos, including an elephant on a thigh, a peacock on her right leg and a Betty Boop tattoo on a foot.
