A 15-year-old girl was found dead from an apparent head injury in her metropolitan Atlanta apartment on Tuesday, and investigators say three teen suspects are responsible.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Peachtree City Police said that girl’s mother found her at about 6 a.m. in her bed at the Greens at Braelinn apartments. The victim has been identified as Madison Gesswein. Police say she was shot in the head but a final cause of death will be determined by a medical examiner.
According to WSB-TV, police arrested three teen males who knew the victim. They have been identified as Justus Smith, Jacobean Brown, and Yeshua Mathis; all three defendants are 18-year-olds from the Fayetteville area.
“They were all acquaintances, and this was not a random occurrence,” Peachtree Cisty Assistant Chief Matt Myers said, The Citizen reports.
All three defendants were arrested and charged with murder. They are behind bars at the Fayette County Jail. It’s unclear which defendant is accused of firing the shot that killed Gesswein.
This is a developing story and will be updated as additional information becomes available.
