An 8-year-old Florida boy was reportedly arrested on Saturday for slashing another boy’s throat with a butter knife.
The 8-year-old boy allegedly choked the victim, a 13-year-old foster child, at the Clermont residence but stopped when the victim said he could not breathe. WESH reported that the 8-year-old then swung a knife at the victim, slicing his throat, as the victim approached him.
The victim’s friend took the knife while the 8-year-old allegedly looked for the weapon and threatened to “kill everyone.” Other juveniles who witnessed the altercation stopped the boy as he tried to attack the victim with a stick, according to WESH.
The New York Post reported that the 8-year-old boy cried and begged responding police officers to not “take him away.”
According to the news outlet, the victim had a three-inch laceration on his neck. He was assessed by a paramedic but declined to be transported to the hospital.
The 8-year-old boy was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, battery by strangulation, battery on a law enforcement officer, and resisting a law enforcement officer. Officials have not publicly named the boy due to his age.
