A Pennsylvania mother of two was mauled to death by her neighbor’s Great Danes, and one of her sons saw at least the beginning of the attack.
Perry County Coroner Robert Ressler said the neighbor had asked 38-year-old Kristin Potter to feed the dogs while they were away — something Potter had done before with no problems.
Thursday evening, though, the dogs attacked, WGAL reported.
“He was present at the scene,” Ressler said of the young boy who went with his mother that night, “but I don’t think he was there for much of it. As soon as he saw the dogs starting to attack his mother, he ran across the road to have his brother call 911.”
Emergency medical services and police arrived and were unable to get to Potter because of the aggressive dogs. They called animal control, who arrived and tranquilized the dogs. They were later taken to a veterinarian and euthanized.
Potter’s husband, Jacob Presley Fickett, told Daily Voice that Potter had three sons, but her middle child was killed in 2021 when a car struck him near their home.
“She was the light of my life,” he said. ” … She has done nothing but good to anything she touched. I love her so much I can’t even believe that she gone.”
