Authorities in the South Carolina foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains are investigating after a dog brought its owner a human forearm on Wednesday.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call and launched a search of the area, eventually finding a body in a nearby creek, WHNS reported.
Investigators said the body was a woman, but they won’t have an identity or cause of death until an autopsy is complete on Friday.
The coroner’s office and the sheriff’s office have been in contact with the family of a missing woman from the tiny town of Salem in Oconee County, and that family has provided information to help with the identification of the body.
