New Jersey State troopers went on the hunt Thursday night for a 4-year-old boy who got lost in the woods with his dog, and — they found him.
Trooper Ian Emmi was with the boy’s mother when they heard the little boy’s cries and the dog’s barking. Emmi took off running down the path.
“I got him,” Emmi shouted when the boy and the black Labrador retriever came into view.
“I lost my shoe,” the boy cried as Emmi picked him up and handed him over to his grateful mom.
State police said the child and his dog — who never left his side — were missing for about an hour just a half mile from his home in Buena Vista Township.
Police said he was in good health when he was found, if scared and worried about his shoe.
