Donald Trump Gives Second Deposition in Attorney General’s $250M Civil Fraud Case

Former president Donald Trump was at the New York Attorney General’s Office on Thursday to answer a deposition in a civil lawsuit regarding his family’s real estate business and its alleged misleading practices.

The New York Daily News reported that Trump appeared for the second deposition at Letitia James’ office in Manhattan. Trump and his family are accused of lying about the value of their businesses and properties to procure better loans and tax breaks.

James has accused Trump of inflating his net worth by more than a billion dollars. In addition to $250 million in restitution, she is seeking to have the family banned from conducting business in New York and purchasing real estate in the state for five years.

Last week, Trump was arraigned on 34 criminal counts regarding business fraud. In that case, he allegedly paid hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels prior to his 2016 presidential run. He has pleaded not guilty to those charges.

This is Trump’s second deposition in the ongoing civil case against him. The New York Daily News reported that he invoked the Fifth more than 440 times in August. The civil trial against Trump and his family is expected to begin in November.
