‘Suspicious’ Bus Tries to Pick Up Students in Virginia County

Fairfax County Police in Virginia launched an investigation after suspicious buses tried to pick up students at school bus stops Thursday morning.

Police say that a short white bus with a blue stripe pulled up to a bus stop in Reston at about 7:45 a.m. and attempted to pick up a student. But when a community member tried to question the driver, he shut the door and drove off.

Witnesses described the driver as a white man with facial hair.

A second incident took place about 10 minutes later in Lorton. In that case, an unmarked yellow school bus with black stripes stopped and tried to pick up a group of elementary school students.

A community member there, too, confronted the driver, who drove away. Police later said that they had identified that driver, who was there for a different pickup.

“No criminal activity suspected,” police said.

Police ask anyone with information to call police at 703-691-2131 or 1-866-411-TIPS.
