A Texas man is in jail after admitting he shot his 22-year-old girlfriend to death earlier this month.
Adam Byrd, 23, told investigators he killed Jade Alyssa Alvarez when she told him she didn’t want to have a baby with him, KSAT reported.
He was initially arrested on a robbery warrant and then questioned about the murder. That’s when he told detectives he even used the same gun to kill Alvarez that he used in the two robberies.
An arrest affidavit says that Byrd committed the robberies on April 1, and Alvarez was found dead on the street at about 6:30 a.m. on April 6. She had multiple gunshot wounds.
Five days later, investigators spoke with a witness who was with Alvarez before the shooting and said Alvarez was using their phone to talk with Byrd late in the evening of April 5. Byrd asked the witness to drop Alvarez off on Capitol Avenue, which the witness did between 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.
Hours later, she was found dead.
The arrest affidavit said Byrd confirmed the report that he’d asked to meet Alvarez on Capital Avenue and also provided details that corroborated evidence found at the scene.
Police added a murder charge to the two aggravated robbery charges. He has a preliminary hearing set for May 31.
