A Texas teenager has been charged with stabbing his mother to death and seriously injurying his father in what police said was a “quick moment of rage.”
Primera Chief of Police Manuel Trevino said that 18-year-old Dallas Scott Gilbert stabbed Angela Watt Gilbert, 47, six to eight times and his father, 55-year-old Gary Gilbert, several times in the stomach and ribs, Law and Crime reported.
The father managed to call 911, and when officers arrived, they found him pinning down his son waiting for them to arrive.
“I can say one thing, the female did fight. She did have several defensive wounds on her hands, which means she didn’t go down without a fight,” Trevino said. “But again, this was her son attacking her. She probably had no idea what was coming.”
The suspect confessed, Trevino said, adding that the stabbings came about in a “moment of rage that went totally out of control.”
The chief said that police had responded to the residence for a minor “verbal disturbance” in 2022 and that the suspect had a previous arrest for a “minor drug offense.”
According to KGRV, Gilbert was charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He’s being held on a $1.5 million bond.
