‘Cult Mom’ Trial: Lori Searched for Wedding Dresses the Same Day as Tammy’s Funeral

On Monday, an Idaho investigator testified that an email account linked to Lori Vallow Daybell made several Internet searches the same day as Tammy Daybell’s funeral in 2019.

Rexburg police Detective David Stubbs said that the Gmail account in question looked up “possessed” and “how to remove the rear seat of my Jeep Wrangler.” In October 2019, the user also searched for wedding dresses in Hawaii, which is where Vallow Daybell and Chad Daybell were wed following Tammy’s slaying.

“What also caught my attention was this was being looked at on the same day as Tammy’s funeral,” Stubbs said, according to East Idaho News.

Tammy Daybell is the slain wife of Chad Daybell, who is Vallow Daybell’s fifth husband. Vallow Daybell is currently on trial for Tammy’s slaying and for killing her two children, J.J. Vallow, 7, and Tylee Ryan, 19, who had vanished in September 2019. The two children were reportedly found buried on Chad’s property nine months later.

Prosecutors said Ryan — who was dismembered and burned — was located near a burn pit, while Vallow was in a plastic bag wrapped in plastic. His face, arms, wrists, and feet were wrapped with duct tape.

Chad is facing the same charges as Vallow Daybell but he is standing trial separately.

Vallow Daybell said she was with Melanie Gibb, David Warwick, or her husband when her son and daughter died in her brother’s apartment in Rexburg, Idaho. Vallow Daybell allegedly said she was at her residence, also in Rexburg.

Vallow Daybell claimed she was in Hawaii when Tammy Daybell was killed at her husband’s home in Salem, Idaho. Vallow Daybell stated she was with two other people at the time.

Vallow Daybell — who is believed to have been involved in a so-called doomsday cult  — allegedly told a friend that her children had become zombies and the only way to exorcise their bodies of evil spirits was to kill them.

Vallow Daybell is also charged in connection with the death of her fourth husband, Charles Vallow, who was fatally shot by Vallow Daybell’s brother, Alex Cox, in Arizona in July 2019. Cox died, reportedly of natural causes, in December 2019.

Vallow Daybell — who is not facing the death penalty — underwent psychiatric treatment twice before she was deemed fit to stand trial in Idaho. Cameras are not allowed in the courtroom per a court order.

The trial continues.
