Deion Patterson, the man believed to have opened fire at an Atlanta medical facility, killing one woman and wounded four others, has been taken into custody. Details to follow.

UPDATE

Police have identified the suspected gunman at Atlanta’s Northside Medical Midtown as Deion Patterson, 24. Atlanta police urge people not to approach Patterson if spotted, but instead, call 911.

According to CNN, a source said the suspect went to a facility within the medical center with his mother Wednesday morning and became “enraged.” His mother is now reportedly assisting investigators with the manhunt.

Northside Hospital is a large network of medical facilities with offices and clinics in multiple locations in the Atlanta area. The main hospital is in north Atlanta.

On Wednesday afternoon, Cobb County police said law enforcement is searching for the suspect in the “Vinings, Cumberland, Truist Park” areas.

Officials told Fox 5 Atlanta that Patterson, who joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 2018 and was discharged earlier this year, killed one female, 35, and injured four other women, ages 71, 56, 39, and 25, in a waiting room in the facility.

Police are offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the suspect.
