A woman reportedly leaped to her death from a New York hotel on Tuesday during a violent altercation with her boyfriend.
According to the New York Post, Tyler Griffen, 24, was forcefully arrested at OYO Times Square hotel in New York City after he was found acting erratically in the lobby. Before his arrest, Griffen apparently pummeled his 20-year-old girlfriend and yanked their 8-month-old daughter’s arm in the hallway, causing the baby to tumble down some stairs before a hotel guest caught her.
Police believe the woman then went to the roof of the hotel and jumped, landing on some scaffolding on the second floor, as CrimeOnline previously reported. The woman, who is from Colorado, died at the scene. Her baby was not injured.
WABC reported that nobody witnessed the woman jump but police are reviewing hotel surveillance footage. Authorities said they do not believe Griffen threw or pushed his girlfriend off the roof, according to the New York Post.
Griffen is charged with assault, reckless endangerment, and acting in a manner injurious to a child. He is awaiting arraignment. WABC reported that Children’s Services has the baby.
