The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation said Wednesday that its preliminary investigation indicates a Fayetteville policeman shot his wife last week and then himself.
Domingo Tavarez-Rodriguez, 53, and Yenitza Arroyo Torres, 44, were found shot to death in their home on Friday after Tavarez-Rodriguez failed to show up for his shift after scheduled days off.
Fayetteville Police Chief Kem Braden asked the state agency to conduct the investigation.
State investigators said autopsy results showed that Taverez-Rodriguez died from a single gunshot wound while Torres was shot multiple times.
Investigators said there “is no reason to believe anyone else was involved” and there “is no reason to believe there is a threat to the community or to law enforcement.”
No other details were released.
