Police answered a call about an injured person on the popular Reach 11 trail Saturday morning and found Heike with “obvious signs of trauma,” KPNX reported. They did not say if a weapon was used.
Heike was a beverage car server at Troon North Golf Club, where her boss, Brian Thorne, said coworkers are shocked and saddened.
Police have asked people not to hike alone in the area and be on the lookout for anything suspicious.
Anyone with information about the case should call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish speakers.
