A Florida woman obtained a protection order and moved out of state to get away from her boyfriend, but he tracked her down to Mississippi.
Harrison County Sheriff Troy Peterson said deputies fond Becky Endres, 62, dead in her Gulfport apartment with Andrew Luckhurst, 44, still there.
Investigators say Luckhurst beat and strangled Endres, who had bruising and fresh blood on her face and head, the Biloxi Sun Herald said.
Luckhurst has a lengthy criminal history, including arrests for previous domestic violence incidents, Law & Crime reported.
Luckhurst was charged with first degree murder and violation of a protection order on Friday and ordered held without bond, according to WXXV.
