A Pennsylvania man is behind bars after allegedly killing his 13-month-old child earlier this year, causing fatal injuries.
According to Fox 43, Timothy L. Sampson, 25, of Mount Holly Springs, has been charged with murder and endangering the welfare of children in connection with his son’s January 1 death. State police said the victim was discovered unconscious inside a Big Spring Terrace home in West Pennsboro Township.
Responding officers said they found Sampson administering chest compressions to the victim with minimal and inadequate effort. When officers took over the life-saving efforts, Sampson allegedly inquired whether his son was too far gone, and subsequently became emotional and tried to embrace the officer performing chest compressions.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. An autopsy revealed that the baby died as a result of asphyxia due to multiple traumatic internal injuries.
Sampson remains behind bars without bail due to “risk of flight, risk to children in household, multiple addresses,” Penn Live reports.
Sampson’s preliminary hearing is set for May 25. Check back for updates.
