Investigators are working with the medical examiner to determine what happened and when. The body’s decomposition was too far along for an estimate of the baby’s age or any other details.
Crime scene personnel responded to the location to uncover any evidence that could be found.
“It’s hard not, you know, not knowing the full story is hard,” KCPD Sgt. Jake Becchina said. “I know every one of these investigators wants to know what happened and what led to this, whatever the explanation is. We pray that someone didn’t intentionally hurt this baby.”
Police ask anyone with any information the Homicide Unit directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS.
