An Alabama mother and her boyfriend have been charged with beating her 2-month-old son to death.
Shelby Shyanne Comalander, 24, and Larry William Jackson, 48, have each been charged with murder and aggravated child abuse following an investigation by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and the state Department of Human Resources. They are being held without bond.
Jackson, who was not the baby’s biological father, has also been charged with possession of a controlled substance, according to WALA.
Investigators say both Comalander and Jackson beat the baby, beginning weeks before the child’s April 9 death.
Comalander, they said, hit the boy in the head and face, fracturing his skull and causing a brain bleed. The child had multiple bruises on his body, investigators said, and no effort was made to get medical help.
Comalander and Jackson are due in court this week.
