Mom Was High on Meth When She Left 7-Week-Old Daughter to Die in Hot Car

A Florida woman was sentenced on Monday to 30 years in prison for leaving her 7-week-old daughter in a hot car in 2020, killing her.

WMBB reported that Megan Dauphin left McKinlee Garner in her car in Panama City. Dauphin had purchased cigarettes with Garner in the car, but she forgot to take her out once she got home.

It was not until Dauphin’s stepdaughter asked about the baby did she realize she was still in the car.

According to WJHG, Garner was left in the car for several hours. A blood test confirmed she was under the influence of meth the morning she left her daughter in the car. Drug paraphernalia was also found in the home that was consistent with meth use.

Dauphin was convicted of aggravated manslaughter of a child and received a maximum sentence. She can appeal the ruling within 30 days.
