Idaho police said on Thursday that Wednesday’s death of a pregnant woman and her 2-year-old son is likely a case of murder-suicide.
Shoshone County police said they responded to a home in Wallace and found the bodies of Elizabeth Lawley, 33, and her toddler son. Police said they now believe Lawley fatally shot her son before killing herself.
The Coeur d’Alene/Post Falls Press reported that Lawley apparently shot herself and her son at her father’s home. Lawley’s father came home and initially believed the pair were sleeping, but he realized they were dead later in the night.
According to the news outlet, law enforcement said Lawley was six months pregnant.
Lawley’s father is not considered a suspect. Police have not released the deceased toddler’s name, citing privacy concerns.
