A $250,000 reward is being offered for information about a Chicago man who allegedly murdered his wife just hours after they were married, CBS News reports.
The FBI on Thursday announced that it was more than doubling the reward, which had been at $100,000, for tips that lead to the capture and conviction of 41-year-old Arnoldo Jimenez. Authorities allege that in 2012, Jimenez stabbed his 26-year-old wife Estrella Carrera to death less than 24 hours after their wedding.
Carrera’s body was found in the bathtub at the couple’s home in Burbank, a suburb southwest of Chicago. She was still wearing a dress that she wore at the wedding reception.
Jimenez, who is American, might have fled the country and may be living in Durango, Mexico; he also may frequent Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico, according to the FBI.

The couple got married on May 11, 2012, in Chicago City Hall and then celebrated with family and friends. But investigators believe they got into an argument on the way home early in the morning on May 12.
“We believe she was stabbed in the vehicle and then dragged back into the apartment and left bleeding in the bathtub,” Special Agent Steve Barnard said, according to CBS News.
Carrera’s loved ones grew concerned when she failed to pick up her young children, an 8-year-old daughter, and a 2-year-old son. On May 13, the woman’s family reportedly received a call from Jimenez’s sister stating that her brother had left Carrera bleeding following a “bad fight,” The Associated Press reports.
Jimenez has been on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list since 2019. He is approximately 6 feet tall, about 200 to 225 pounds and has black hair with brown eyes.
“He has a criminal past and a history of violence,” Barnard said, according to CBS News. “We want to bring him to justice.”
