Florida police believe a man killed a woman he was romantically involved with before taking his own life in an apparent murder-suicide on Saturday.
WPTV reported that Port St. Lucie police conducted a welfare check at an apartment and discovered the bodies of a man and Amanda Hicks, a teacher at Dr. David L. Anderson Middle School in Stuart. A crying infant that was found in a crib at the home was unharmed.
Police forced their way into the locked residence after hearing the crying baby from inside. WPTV reported that officers who were outside had spotted two adults who appeared dead from a rear sliding door.
The baby is with a relative following Saturday’s incident. Officials have not publicly identified the deceased man or disclosed a motive.
